Each vintage is a different experience that inspires new chapters of the vine grower’s adventure.
Merlot is a noble variety with great adaptability. In 2018 we want to taste Mas Vernet “terroir” with Merlot as protagonist: long macerations and 15 months in oak with fine lees. Plums, thyme, pine, subtle tannins, soil and herbs are mixed in these 400 bottles of our history.

Winemaking Fermentation at 23ºC and large maceration with the skins
Ageing 15 months in oak barrel on the noblest lees with bâtonnage
Notes Intense violet color, on the nose the light notes of the wood are integrated with plums, Mediterranean herbs and pine bush. In the mouth full and fresh with a subtle and present tannin and a long life ahead.

The vineyards

Soils Panal: quaternary fossil dunes with a silty texture, calcareous with deep layers of clay next to the wooden areas
Altitude 350 mm
Density Selection from the only Merlot viyneyard in Mas Vernet, with a density of 4200 plants/ha
Management Cover crops planted in alternate rows, vines ploughed mechanically, green pruning and crop thinning for qualitative and quantitative reasons.
